Gran Turismo 2 is a racing simulation video game developed by Polyphony Digital and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the Sony PlayStation. It features nearly 620 cars, 27 race tracks, and offers both arcade and simulation modes. In the simulation mode (known as “Gran Turismo Mode” in PAL and Japanese versions), players earn driver’s licenses, purchase vehicles, and unlock new courses by winning trophies. The game also introduces rally racing on winding dirt tracks, enhancing the overall experience. GT2 received critical acclaim and shipped over 9 million copies worldwide.
